What Are Processing Solutions?
Definition: From Raw Material to Finished Component
Processing solutions encompass all mechanical processes that transfer raw materials, semi-finished products, or intermediate products to a higher value level. The spectrum ranges from cutting processes such as sawing, drilling, milling, and turning through forming processes such as bending and straightening to surface processes such as grinding, deburring, and polishing. MSG Solutions develops individual special machines and systems for each of these process steps – as single stations or as linked complete lines.
Why Individual Processing Solutions?
Standard machines are built for standard tasks. As soon as your requirements go beyond that – special materials, tight tolerances, high cycle times, multiple processing steps in one system, or integrated quality inspection – you need a tailor-made solution. MSG Solutions analyzes your process and develops a system that exactly matches your production goal – economically, compactly, and expandable.
Our Processing Methods in Detail
Sawing & Cutting
Our sawing systems process pipes, profiles, and solid material made of steel, stainless steel, aluminum, and copper. Depending on requirements, we use circular saws, band saws, or special cutting processes. The systems are designed for precise cut lengths, tight tolerances, and high cycle times – with minimal material loss. Optionally, we integrate automatic material feeding and length measurement for a fully automatic process.
Drilling & Punching
Our drilling and punching systems create holes, cutouts, and contours in pipes, profiles, and flat parts. Multi-spindle drilling units and CNC-controlled punching tools enable high volumes with consistent precision. The systems are designed for your specific hole patterns and material thicknesses and can be integrated into existing lines or operated as stand-alone stations.
Milling & Turning
For complex geometries and tight tolerances, we use CNC-controlled milling and turning processes. Our special machines process pipe ends, profile contours, and special components with the highest accuracy. Integration into automated lines with robotic loading and unloading ensures consistently high output without manual intervention.
Forming & Straightening
Our forming and straightening systems bring materials into the desired shape: bending, pressing, calibrating, and straightening pipes, profiles, and sheet metal. Especially in steel and pipe production, straightening is a critical quality step. MSG Solutions develops straightening machines that, in combination with our straightness measurement, enable inline control – the material is measured, straightened, and immediately inspected again.
Grinding & Deburring
Clean surfaces and burr-free edges are mandatory in many industries. Our grinding and deburring systems process pipe ends, cut edges, and surfaces automatically and reproducibly. In combination with our Surface Evaluation System (SES), surface quality can be evaluated inline – for automatic OK/NOK classification without manual visual inspection.
Why Processing Solutions from MSG Solutions?
Mechanical Engineering and Measurement Technology from a Single Source
This is what sets MSG Solutions apart from traditional machine suppliers: we not only build the processing system but integrate our own inline measurement technology directly into the process. Whether TWINEX ScanEnd for cross-section measurement after sawing, TWINEX Straightness after straightening, or TWINEX SurfOut for surface inspection after grinding – every processing step can be verified with digital quality documentation.
Over 25 Years of Experience in Steel and Pipe Processing
Since 1998, MSG Solutions has been developing processing systems at its location in Schmallenberg, Sauerland, for steel and pipe production, the automotive industry, and construction supply. Hundreds of systems are in operation worldwide. This deep industry knowledge flows into every new solution – from tool material selection to optimal process control.
Compact Design, High ROI
Our processing solutions are designed for minimal footprint with maximum performance. Through compact design, modular construction, and the ability to integrate into existing lines, you achieve a fast return on investment. The systems are engineered so they can later be expanded with additional stations or measurement technology – without fundamental rebuilding.
Sustainability Through Precision
Precise processing means less waste, less rework, and less scrap. Our systems optimize material usage through exact cutting plans, tight tolerances, and integrated quality control. Combined with energy-efficient drives and intelligent process control, you reduce your production costs and ecological footprint simultaneously.
Frequently Asked Questions About Processing Solutions from MSG Solutions (FAQ)
What processing methods does MSG Solutions offer?
We cover the entire spectrum of industrial further processing: sawing, drilling, punching, milling, turning, forming, bending, straightening, grinding, deburring, and polishing. Every system is individually designed for your materials, tolerances, and cycle times.
What materials can be processed?
Our systems process steel, stainless steel, aluminum, copper, and other materials. We design the tools, cutting parameters, and clamping devices precisely for your material spectrum.
Can multiple processing steps be combined in one system?
Yes, this is one of our strengths. We chain multiple processing stations into a continuous line – e.g., sawing → drilling → deburring → measuring → palletizing. This eliminates manual intermediate steps and significantly increases output.
Can MSG Solutions integrate measurement technology into the processing system?
Yes, this is our unique selling point. We integrate our measuring systems (TWINEX ScanEnd, TWINEX ScanOut, TWINEX Straightness, TWINEX SurfOut, etc.) directly into the processing line. This gives you a digital twin of every component and 100% inline quality control – without a separate inspection station.
How are the systems integrated into existing production lines?
Our systems are compactly built and have standardized interfaces for integration into existing lines. We handle the complete integration including material flow connection, control networking, and commissioning.
For which industries does MSG Solutions develop processing solutions?
Key areas are steel and pipe production, the automotive industry, and construction supply. Beyond that, we realize projects for profile manufacturers, general mechanical engineering, and other industries.
How long does it take to realize a processing system?
Depending on complexity: single stations can be realized in 2–4 months, linked complete lines require 4–8 months. Through pre-assembly and software testing at our facility in Schmallenberg, we minimize on-site commissioning time.
Can the systems be expanded later?
Yes, our processing solutions are modularly designed. Additional stations, measurement technology, or higher degrees of automation can be added subsequently without rebuilding the base system.
How does MSG Solutions ensure quality in processing?
Through three pillars: 1) Precise machine technology with tight tolerances, 2) integrated inline measurement technology for 100% quality monitoring, 3) data-driven process control for continuous optimization. The result: rework and scrap are reduced to a minimum.
Does MSG Solutions also offer service and maintenance for processing systems?
Yes, comprehensively: maintenance contracts, remote maintenance via VPN, spare parts supply, tool optimization, and short-notice on-site deployment worldwide. We support you throughout the entire lifecycle of your system.
