Successful implementation of our SES

Rackwitz/Schmallenberg/Germany – Since 2023, MSG has been offering an AI-based surface inspection system (Surface Evaluation System, SES) to complement its geometry measurement systems. The SES analyzes and evaluates the surface of bars at a testing speed of up to 2 m/s using reflected light digitization. The system has been used satisfactorily by several customers to date.

In a current project, the system was used immediately after a peeling process for cast aluminum bars. The requirements for MSG were clear:

- Stable 24/7 inspection system without adjustment and maintenance costs,

- Reliable identification and evaluation of surface phenomena,

- Service life and process optimization of rotary peeling,

- Simple complaint processing through digital archiving of the surface of each semi-finished product.

"The SES and the service provided by MSG convinced us in all requirements. We were able to replace the previous, unreliable inspection method with the SES optical surface inspection system. In addition, we were able to convince our customers of the inspection technology as an acceptance procedure and have not had any customer complaints in 2025," says Alexander Kasperidus, Process Engineer / HYDRO Aluminium Foundry Rackwitz.
